What Women Want

To celebrate 125 years since Kiwi women gained the right to vote, What Women Want explores contemporary issues facing women in a studio chat show featuring 35 female New Zealand experts, leaders and changemakers.

Filmed in front of a live studio audience in Auckland, and hosted by acclaimed journalist and broadcaster Ali Mau , this series of panel discussions features Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand; Dame Margaret Sparrow, sexual health pioneer; Lizzie Marvelly, musician, writer and activist; Renee Graham, Chief Executive of Ministry for Women; Golriz Ghahraman, Green Party List MP; Paora Crawford-Moyle, Social Worker and State Care Abuse Victims Activist; Louise Nicholas ONZM, Victim Advocate; Prue Kapua, National President, Maori Women’s Welfare League; Dr Huhana Hickey, Human Rights Review Tribunal & Member of the Welfare Expert Advisory Panel; Catriona McLennan, Board Member -  Rape Prevention; Ruahine (Roni) Albert, Co-Founder, Te Whakaruruhau Māori Women’s Refuge; and Brittany and Johanna Cosgrove, the NOPE SISTERS.

Broadcast on Stuff, New Zealand’s largest news site, What Women Want puts women’s voices front and centre and covers domestic and sexual violence, consent, health, and pay equity, interspersed with comedy sets from the Topp Twins, Madeleine Sami and Jackie Van Beek, and Michelle A’Court.
